Kondhwa residents in the NIBM Annexe area are fed up with the increasing number of dog bites and the presence of stray dogs roaming the streets. They are also frustrated with unauthorized pigeon feeding and a lack of police patrolling in the area. Recent reports of four dog bite cases near K Raheja Circle have sparked concerns about public safety.

A group of around 40 residents, including women, gathered at K Raheja Circle to demand action from authorities. Social worker Ashok Mehendale, along with PMC Health Inspector Navnath Shelar and his team, attended the meeting to address the residents’ grievances.

Mehendale stressed the seriousness of feeding stray dogs and pigeons in public areas, as it contributes to health and safety issues. Residents also brought up concerns about drug use and open-air drinking along the road stretch from VIBGYOR School to Raheja Premier.

Health Inspector Navnath Shelar assured residents that steps would be taken to manage the stray dog population through sterilization and vaccination. He also promised to address the pigeon feeding issue to improve health and hygiene.

Residents expressed gratitude for the community’s participation and praised Health Inspector Shelar for outlining necessary actions to tackle these issues effectively. Key takeaways from the meeting include the deployment of a Dog-Catching Van, monitoring and prevention efforts, sterilization and vaccination programs, awareness campaigns, and road cleanliness initiatives.

Former corporator Ashok Mehendale highlighted the importance of collective effort in maintaining a clean and safe environment. Residents stressed the need for strict implementation and sustained efforts to resolve these issues effectively.

The meeting was attended by several residents, including Imtiaz Naikwadi, Shyam Gangwani, Tarun Ramchandani, and others. The community is hopeful that these measures will improve public safety and hygiene in the area.
