Hey Puneites, good news for all you two-wheeler riders out there! You can breathe a sigh of relief as the State Government’s order to crack down on those not wearing helmets has been put on hold for now.
The strict implementation of the order was set to start in January, with action being taken against both two-wheeler riders and pillion riders without helmets. However, Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar has announced that discussions with various traffic departments, social organisations, and people’s representatives will take place before any decisions are made.
The order, issued by the Additional DGP, aimed to reduce the number of two-wheeler accidents on highways. But after facing opposition from the public, including a plea from MLA Hemant Rasane, the CP has decided to focus on spreading awareness about the importance of wearing helmets instead.
So, for now, keep those helmets handy and stay tuned for updates in January. Stay safe, Pune! 🚴‍♂️👮‍♂️ #HelmetSafety #PuneTraffic #StaySafePune
