Hey there, folks! Exciting news coming out of Alandi today as plans for a new coaching depot at the Alandi Railway Station are in the works. This new facility, estimated to cost Rs 90 crore, will be a game-changer for the Pune-Satara Railway Line.

With the capacity to handle maintenance and repair of about 100 coaches daily, this depot will be the second of its kind in the Pune division. Not only will it service regular coaches, but it will also cater to Vande Bharat Express and New Modified Goods (NMG) coaches.

Why Alandi, you ask? Well, with space constraints at Pune Railway Station, Alandi was the perfect choice with its 10 acres of available land. The depot will feature pit lines for coach repairs, stabling lines for parking, and a sick line for isolating damaged coaches, all aimed at keeping rail operations smooth and efficient.

The proposal has already gotten the green light from Central Railway and is just waiting for final approval from the Railway Board. Once the go-ahead is given, construction will kick off, and we can expect to see increased maintenance capacity, possibly leading to more train frequency for passengers.

This new depot will also ease the burden on the Ghorpadi Coaching Maintenance Complex, which currently handles a whopping 300 coaches daily. Divisional Railway Manager Padma Singh Jadhav has assured us that this new facility will not only relieve pressure on existing resources but will also boost operational efficiency in the Pune division.

So, all aboard the hype train for this exciting development in Alandi! Stay tuned for more updates as this project unfolds.
