Hey Pune peeps, big news coming your way! The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is stepping up its game to tackle the city’s crazy traffic situation. They’ve just set up a new Traffic Planning Department under the National Urban Transport Policy, and it’s all hands on deck to make our roads smoother and safer.
The City Traffic Improvement Committee, led by the Additional Police Commissioner, is already on the case, looking into all the traffic-related issues that have been driving us all crazy. And now, with the new department in place, things are looking up.
Municipal Commissioner Rajendra Bhosale has given the green light for the department to kick into action. They’ll be working closely with the police, overseeing public transport projects, and making sure traffic management initiatives are on point. And they’ve got a team of eight officials ready to roll up their sleeves and get things done.
Unlike the old Projects and Transport Planning Department, which didn’t quite cut it, this new department is solely focused on traffic matters. Chief Engineer Aniruddha Pawaskar is at the helm, with a crew of engineers and a traffic planner on board to make sure everything runs smoothly.
So what’s on the agenda for the new department? Well, they’ll be working with the police to make sure everyone follows the rules, and they’ll be getting stuck into some major projects like sidewalks, cycle tracks, flyovers, and more. They’re also teaming up with other agencies like the PMRDA, PWD, and MahaMetro to make sure our public transport system is top-notch.
All in all, it looks like Pune is finally getting the traffic makeover it deserves. Here’s to smoother roads and happier commuters!
