Pune is gearing up for a major boost in tourism and development with a proposed ₹700 crore infusion from the state government. The plan, presented by District Collector Jitendra Dudi, aims to transform the district into a major tourist destination by 2030, attracting millions of visitors and creating 50,000 new jobs in the process.
The focus of the proposal includes integrated tourism initiatives, upgrades in healthcare and education, and improvements in infrastructure. The goal is to offer a diverse range of tourism experiences, from adventure and religious tourism to heritage and agritourism, to cater to a wide range of visitors.
In addition to tourism, the plan includes significant investments in infrastructure and education. The ‘Majhi Shala Adarsh Shala’ initiative will upgrade 303 primary schools, while the smart primary health center program will modernize 108 health centers, enhancing public services and quality of life for residents.
The state government has allocated funds for the district’s development, with 80% expected to be disbursed by the end of February. Key areas such as electricity, rural roads, public health, education, and women and child welfare will benefit from increased funding, supporting overall growth and progress in the region.
Overall, the plan aims to position Pune as a leading tourist destination, improve infrastructure and public services, and create new job opportunities for residents.
