Hey there, folks! If you’re a resident of Katraj or someone who frequently travels through the area, you might be familiar with the ongoing construction of the Katraj Chowk flyover. Originally slated for completion in February 2024, this project has hit a few bumps in the road and is now expected to wrap up in 2025. Yup, you read that right – we’re looking at another year of dealing with construction woes.
The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and the Pune Traffic Branch are currently scratching their heads over how to handle traffic diversion around Katraj Chowk. It seems like previous attempts to redirect traffic away from the construction site have been less than successful, leaving commuters frustrated and confused. But fear not, a study is underway to figure out where things went wrong and how to make it right.
To get things back on track, a meeting is in the works with key players like NHAI, Bharti Vidyapeeth Traffic Division, MSRTC, PMPML, private transport operators, and rickshaw unions. The goal? To come up with a solid plan that keeps traffic flowing smoothly while the flyover gets built.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Amol Zende is on the case, promising that steps will be taken to ensure minimal disruption for residents. This includes ideas like diverting heavy vehicles and buses through a tunnel to Navale Bridge and Sinhagad Road, limiting PMPML bus routes, and cracking down on illegal parking around Katraj Chowk.
So, if you find yourself stuck in traffic jams near Katraj Chowk, hang in there – help is on the way. Let’s hope these new traffic measures help us all get to our destinations a little quicker!
