Hey there, Pune peeps! Exciting news coming your way! The Pune Traffic Police Department has teamed up with PPCR, TMCF, and Jehangir Hospital to launch the “Pune Traffic Mitigation Internship Program.” This program is all about getting college students involved in managing traffic and finding solutions for urban mobility issues.
Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar officially kicked off the program today, with some big names in attendance like Manoj Patil, Dr. Sudhir Mehta, Mukesh Malhotra, Ajay Agarwal, and Nishit Kamat. The first batch of interns were given a warm welcome at the event.
These lucky students will get hands-on experience in traffic management, law enforcement, and how technology can make our city streets safer. They’ll learn about smart technologies like Google Maps, CCTV surveillance, and Adaptive Traffic Management Systems (ATMS), as well as the impact of road improvement projects happening in Pune.
The interns got to explore different divisions within the Pune City Traffic Police Department, like Planning, Administration, CCTV, Multimedia, Computer, and Reader sections. They even visited the ATMS center on Sinhagad Road to see how real-time traffic monitoring works.
But the fun didn’t stop there! The students also got to witness law enforcement in action at a busy intersection in Pune. They saw police officials cracking down on traffic violations like fancy number plates, overspeeding, triple-seat riding on two-wheelers, and driving in the wrong direction.
Dr. Shyam Gaikwad from Jehangir Hospital even gave the students and police personnel a first-aid training session. They learned how to provide immediate medical assistance during road accidents and other emergencies. Talk about life-saving skills!
More than 70 students from top institutions like Lexicon MILE, Symbiosis School of Economics, Cybage, and Indira School of Business Studies are taking part in this awesome program. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Amol Zende and his team are leading the charge to educate and empower these young minds.
Commissioner Amitesh Kumar believes that by understanding traffic issues, students can help shape smarter city planning and traffic solutions in the future. Dr. Sudhir Mehta agrees, saying that educating young people on urban mobility is key to creating efficient, tech-driven traffic solutions.
With traffic congestion and road safety on everyone’s minds in Pune, initiatives like the Pune Traffic Mitigation Internship Program are vital. By combining education, hands-on experience, and law enforcement, these interns are set to make a real impact on our city’s traffic challenges. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting program!
