Pune’s Drinking Water Quality Under Scrutiny Amid GBS Outbreak: Residents Take Action

1. Sahakarnagar Nagrik Manch member, Ketaki Sathe-Kulkarni, took the initiative to test water quality in the area.
2. She collected 34 water samples from various sources and sent them for testing.
3. Municipal tap water was found to have high chlorine levels, while borewells and wells showed bacterial contamination.
4. Ketaki Sathe Kulkarni recommends boiling tap water before drinking and using UV filters.
5. All borewells and wells in the area were found to be unsafe for drinking and household use.
6. A meeting will be held with experts to come up with a plan of action to address the contamination.
7. Residents are urged to maintain cleanliness and pressure authorities to address waste disposal issues.
8. Authorities and residents must work together to find long-term solutions to prevent further contamination.
