Hey there! Today, we have some interesting updates from the agricultural sector. Recently, a group of association members including Abhay Kolhe, Rajabhau Lomte, Dhananjay Kale, Ganesh Yadav, Nilesh Bagate, Kaleem Shaikh, Sharad Chavan, Rahul Ithape, and Rajat Nalawade gathered for a submission.
During their meeting, the association members highlighted the need for an increase in transportation and harvesting charges. Despite the government’s efforts to promote agricultural mechanization, a significant number of harvesting machines, around 900 of them, have not received subsidies since 2019.
With the escalating diesel prices, the cost of harvesting sugarcane has also surged. It now takes three liters of diesel per ton of harvested sugarcane, amounting to ₹260-₹280 per ton. Additional expenses such as labor, maintenance, and spare parts further add ₹180 per ton, making the total cost reach ₹460 per ton. However, sugar mills are currently paying only ₹450-₹500 per ton, creating financial challenges for farmers.
The association has raised concerns about the unfair 13.5% trash deduction imposed on farmers, harvesters, and transporters, urging authorities to address these issues promptly.
Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story!
