Shirur, a small town in the Pune District, is making headlines for its residents’ administrative success, particularly in government scholarships. Recently, 20 residents from farming families in Shirur took the oath of khaki uniform as Police Sub Inspectors (PSIs) at a ceremony in Nashik. The ceremony was attended by Rajesh Kumar, Chief Director of Maharashtra Police Academy, Nashik, and Additional Director General of Police, along with Judge Shrichand Daulatram Jagmalani from the District & Sessions Court, Nashik.

Shirur residents have been consistently excelling in district and state merit lists for scholarship exams, with students from the same school achieving top rankings in recent years. This success underscores the importance of competitive exams at the school level. A recent event at the Maharashtra Police Academy in Nashik saw 620 candidates who cleared the PSI exam in the 2020 Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) Exam complete their 13-month training. These newly trained PSIs have been posted in various locations across Maharashtra.

PSI Atul Pawar, a resident of Jategaon Budruk in Shirur, mentioned that most of the 20 PSIs who took the oath had received scholarships at the school level. He emphasized that the foundation for their success in competitive exams was laid at the primary school level. With Shirur residents continuing to excel in scholarship exams, the town is poised to lead in the future.
