Hey there, Pune peeps! Exciting news coming your way – the 20th edition of the Divya Kala Mela kicked off today, showcasing the incredible talents and entrepreneurial spirit of Divyangjan. The event, organized by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, had some big names in attendance including Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan and Union Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar.

This year’s fair is all about supporting Divyangjan businesses, with the National Divyangjan Finance and Development Corporation approving loans totaling ₹2 crore to help them grow. Plus, they even distributed motorized tricycles to improve mobility for some participants – how cool is that?

Governor Radhakrishnan praised the determination and skills of the Divyangjan community, emphasizing the importance of supporting their businesses and creativity. And Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar highlighted the fair as a platform for showcasing Divyangjan products, with over 1,450 participants nationwide generating revenue of ₹11.5 crore.

But it’s not just about showcasing products – the fair also includes employment fairs to create job opportunities for participants. So far, 370 individuals have been shortlisted for jobs, with more than 100 already receiving offers.

With stalls from artisans, entrepreneurs, and artists from 18 states and union territories, visitors can expect a wide range of unique handmade items and culinary delights. And don’t forget about the evening cultural performances featuring talented Divyang artists – happening daily from 6 to 9 PM.

This year’s Mela is all about empowering Divyangjan and showcasing their skills to a global audience. So mark your calendars, because the fair runs until October 6th and entry is free for all. Don’t miss the special closing day performance titled “Divya Kalashakti” – it’s sure to be a showstopper!
