Hey Pune peeps! Get ready to exercise your democratic right because the district’s electorate is a diverse bunch. We’ve got a whopping 1,78,615 first-time voters who are eager to cast their ballots, along with 1,21,760 voters over the age of 85 and even 5,231 centenarians who are still going strong. And let’s not forget about the 88,937 people with disabilities who are also eligible to vote. It’s safe to say that the elections in Pune are going to see a wide range of folks showing up at the polls.
District Collector Dr. Suhas Diwase gave us the lowdown on the candidate tally, and it looks like things have been heating up since the Model Code of Conduct came into play. Enforcement agencies have seized a total of ₹16.34 crore in cash, liquor, drugs, precious metals, and other election-related goodies in Pune district. Looks like they’re cracking down on any shady business happening during the election season.
With a total of 88,49,590 eligible voters in Pune, the numbers are looking pretty impressive. We’ve got 45,79,216 male voters, 42,69,569 female voters, and even 805 third-gender voters in the mix. And let’s not forget about the 5,605 service voters and 1,956 overseas voters who are also part of the electorate. It’s great to see such a diverse group of people participating in the electoral process.
