Hey there, Pune peeps! Big news coming your way – the state government has given the green light to the nursery (Anganwadi-cum-Crèche) scheme as part of the ‘Mission Shakti’ initiative. Get ready for 345 new nurseries popping up in the city, complete with new positions for Anganwadi teachers and helpers.
The Women and Child Development Department has issued a government decision on this, following guidelines from the Central Government. Previously, the Rajiv Gandhi National Crèche Scheme was the go-to, but now it’s all about the National Crèche Scheme under the Integrated Child Development Service (ICDS) Scheme.
In 2023, detailed guidelines were put in place to kickstart the nurseries, with funding shared between the central and state governments – 60% and 40% respectively. This means 345 nurseries are on the horizon for phase one.
Each nursery will cost around ₹3,36,600 annually under the RGNCS, with Anganwadi teachers pocketing ₹1,500 and helpers ₹750. Plus, they’ll be stocked with preschool goodies, nutritious food, medical supplies, and toys. Rent will range from ₹8,000 to ₹12,000 per month, depending on the location. And there’s a sweet ₹50,000 grant for nursery construction.
To keep things running smoothly, committees have been set up at different levels. The big shots will be overseeing from the state-level steering committee down to the nursery-level committee. So get ready, Pune, for some exciting changes in the childcare scene!
