In a recent incident in Shivajinagar, Pune, a man was arrested by the police for using his sleight of hand to swap ATM cards and defraud citizens of money. The accused, identified as Pramod Sitaram Yalmar, approached a person at an ATM under the guise of offering help. He then swapped the victim’s ATM card with his own and later withdrew thousands of rupees using the victim’s password.
This arrest was made by the Shivajinagar Police Station, and the accused has multiple cases registered against him for cheating. The police received a complaint from a man who was duped of ₹29,000 while trying to withdraw money from a bank. It was revealed that the accused had committed similar crimes in multiple locations, including Pune City and Satara District.
During a patrol in the area, the police team spotted a man matching the accused’s description and found 11 ATM cards and ₹17,000 in cash in his possession. This led to the solving of six cases in different police stations. The accused, a repeat offender, was skilled in committing crimes using his hand dexterity.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Pune City Commissioner of Police and other senior officials. The team from Shivajinagar Police Station, led by Senior Police Inspector Chandrashekar Sawant, played a crucial role in apprehending the accused. The investigation is still ongoing to uncover any other potential crimes committed by the accused.
