Chakan, 23rd January 2025: A tragic update has emerged in the Chakan-Shikrapur Container Truck Case that unfolded on 16th January. Sadly, the 7-year-old girl who was injured in the incident has passed away from her injuries. Medical tests have revealed that the driver, Aquib Khan, was sober at the time of the accident, contradicting previous assumptions. As a result, a case of culpable homicide will now be registered against Khan, a 24-year-old resident of Haryana. The driver claims he was unaware of hitting the two-wheeler and continued driving out of panic from being chased by citizens.

The young girl, identified as Dhanashree Ambadas Gadhave, was a resident of Rase, Khed Tehsil. Khan had been detained by Chakan Police following the incident, which occurred at Manik Chowk in Chakan. The collision involved a container truck and a two-wheeler carrying Dhanashree, her mother Pournima, and their friend Jyoti Dhole. Despite attempts by the police to stop the truck, it continued for over 28 kilometers, colliding with over 10 vehicles in the process.

The driver was finally intercepted at Wajewadi under the jurisdiction of Shikrapur Police Station after a dramatic chase. Khan was then taken into custody and transferred to Sassoon General Hospital for medical tests and treatment. Tragically, Dhanashree lost her battle for life after fighting for 8 days.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Shivaji Pawar confirmed the girl’s passing and stated that additional sections will be added to the case. Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajendra Singh Gaur also confirmed the driver’s sobriety in preliminary tests and indicated that a culpable homicide case will be added to the FIR.

Senior Police Inspector Pramod Wagh revealed that two cases had been registered against Khan for damaging government property and rash driving, with new sections to be added due to Dhanashree’s death. The driver denies realizing the bike collision and claims he panicked when chased by residents and police.

The community is mourning the loss of young Dhanashree and awaiting further developments in the case.
