With the Maharashtra Assembly elections fast approaching, Pune district is gearing up to ensure a smooth voting process for its residents. In a recent development, 8,417 polling stations have been designated across the region, with special attention given to 38 remote stations that face communication challenges.

To tackle this issue, Deputy Collector Shama Pawar has called upon telecommunication providers to ensure network access at these remote polling stations. During a meeting at the district collector’s office, Pawar emphasized the importance of robust connectivity for efficient election operations.

In addition to ensuring network coverage at remote stations, election officers are prepared to implement alternative communication measures in cases of limited connectivity. This proactive approach aims to prevent any disruptions on election day and maintain seamless coordination throughout the voting process.

Another key focus area for election preparations is the certification of campaign communications. Dr. Ravindra Thakur, District Information Officer, stressed the need for all bulk SMS, recorded messages, and digital ads to be pre-certified by the District Level Media Certification and Control Committee. This measure is in place to ensure that only authentic content is disseminated to the public.

Thakur also highlighted the importance of telecom companies cooperating with district authorities to verify the certification of campaign materials and block any unauthorized communications. By working together, both parties can contribute to a well-organized and effective voting experience for residents in Pune district.

Overall, collaborative efforts between the district administration and telecom providers are essential in ensuring a smooth election process. With the active support of all stakeholders, Pune district is on track to conduct a successful and efficient voting operation come election day.
