- A vice-principal in Pune has been sentenced to two years of simple imprisonment and one year of rigorous imprisonment for molesting a teacher.
- The convicted vice-principal, Suresh Pandurang Sawant, was also fined Rs. 15,000 by the Cantonment Court.
- The incident took place in July 2017 at a school in Manjari, where Sawant repeatedly called the teacher to his office and behaved obscenely towards her.
- On 17th July 2017, Sawant sexually assaulted the teacher under the guise of helping her, as per the complaint filed at the Hadapsar Police Station.
- Assistant Public Prosecutor Anjala Navgire represented the case, with five witnesses testifying and two witnesses deposing during the trial.
- The court sentenced Sawant based on the teacher’s testimony and arguments presented by the prosecution, ordering the fine to be paid to the victim as compensation.
- The investigation was conducted by police officer Supriya Gawde, bringing justice to the victim of this heinous crime.
