1. A vice-principal in Pune has been sentenced to two years of simple imprisonment and one year of rigorous imprisonment for molesting a teacher.
  2. The convicted vice-principal, Suresh Pandurang Sawant, was also fined Rs. 15,000 by the Cantonment Court.
  3. The incident took place in July 2017 at a school in Manjari, where Sawant repeatedly called the teacher to his office and behaved obscenely towards her.
  4. On 17th July 2017, Sawant sexually assaulted the teacher under the guise of helping her, as per the complaint filed at the Hadapsar Police Station.
  5. Assistant Public Prosecutor Anjala Navgire represented the case, with five witnesses testifying and two witnesses deposing during the trial.
  6. The court sentenced Sawant based on the teacher’s testimony and arguments presented by the prosecution, ordering the fine to be paid to the victim as compensation.
  7. The investigation was conducted by police officer Supriya Gawde, bringing justice to the victim of this heinous crime.
