Hey there, folks! If you’ve been enjoying the monsoon season in Pune, you might want to brace yourself for some changes in the weather forecast. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), above average rainfall was recorded in June and July in the state. However, it looks like Vidarbha, Marathwada, and Khandesh might not be as lucky in the next two months.

The Director General of the IMD, Mrityunjay Mohapatra, recently announced the forecast for the second phase of the monsoon season. He mentioned that Konkan and Central Maharashtra are expected to receive average rainfall in the coming months. But hold on, there’s more to the story.

For August and September, most areas of Maharashtra are predicted to have average rainfall. The rest of the country, on the other hand, is expected to see above average rainfall during these months. However, some regions like North East and neighboring East India, Ladakh, Saurashtra and Kutch, and parts of Central India might experience less than average rainfall.

In July, the country as a whole received more rain than usual, with a total of 453 mm recorded compared to the average of 445.8 mm. June saw a slight decrease in rainfall, but July made up for it with 9 percent more rain than usual. So, if you’re a fan of rainy days, looks like you’re in luck!

As we move into August, the IMD predicts average rainfall for the country. Unfortunately, areas like Vidarbha, Marathwada, and Khandesh in Maharashtra might not get as much rain as they’d like. But don’t worry, Konkan and Central Maharashtra are expected to have a more pleasant experience with average rainfall.

So there you have it, folks. Keep those umbrellas handy and stay tuned for more updates on the monsoon season. Stay dry out there!
