1. PSI caught red-handed in Pune for demanding bribe: In a shocking turn of events, a Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) in Pune was recently caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for demanding a bribe of Rs 25,000. The accused, PSI Sharad Dashrath Kanase from Hadapsar Police Station, had accepted Rs 10,000 of the bribe amount at the time of the ACB’s intervention.
  2. Father-son duo targeted by accused PSI: The warrant execution of a father-son duo by the Sessions Court in Kolkata led to the involvement of the accused PSI. The complainant, a 64-year-old man, filed a complaint with the ACB in Pune after PSI Kanase allegedly demanded a bribe to avoid arresting the duo.
  3. Charges under Prevention of Corruption Act: PSI Kanase now faces charges under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act of 1988. Deputy Superintendent of Police Dayanand Gawade stated that the accused PSI had demanded the bribe to execute the warrant from the Sessions Court in Kolkata.
  4. Arrest and investigation: Following the complaint filed by the 64-year-old man, PSI Kanase was apprehended by the ACB during the transaction where he accepted Rs 10,000 of the bribe. He has been arrested, and a case has been registered against him. Police Inspector Amol Bhosale from the ACB is overseeing the investigation.
  5. Supervision by ACB officials: The entire operation was conducted under the supervision of ACB Pune’s Superintendent of Police Shirish Deshpande and Additional Superintendent of Police Dr. Sheetal Janve. The authorities are committed to taking strict action against corruption and ensuring accountability in law enforcement agencies.
