- Dattatray Gade, the accused in the Swargate Bus Depot Rape Case, has been transferred to Yerawada Central Jail after a Pune Court order today. Gade, who allegedly raped a 26-year-old woman in a stationary bus at Swargate Bus Depot, will remain in judicial custody for 14 days as investigations into the incident continue.
- The incident took place on 25th February when Gade, pretending to be a bus conductor, lured the victim into an empty bus and assaulted her before fleeing the scene. He was apprehended three days later in Gunat village, Shirur taluka, following an extensive manhunt involving drones and sniffer dogs.
- Gade has a history of criminal cases, including theft and robbery, leading police to suspect that he may have committed similar offenses in the past. Authorities are urging individuals with complaints against him to step forward, while the investigation team is examining technical evidence such as his mobile records to gather more information about his activities and any potential accomplices.
