Hey Pune peeps, did you hear about the big celebration at Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) recently? They just marked the 62nd anniversary of their Graduate Wing on August 4, 2024. That’s a long time of producing top-notch doctors who go on to do amazing things in the Armed Forces and beyond.

AFMC was actually inaugurated back in 1962 by the then Defence Minister, Shri V.K. Krishna Menon. Since then, they have graduated over 7,600 doctors who have made their mark in various fields like academics, healthcare, research, and even administration.

The college has received some major accolades recently, like the President’s Colour from the Hon’ble President of India and the Unit Citation from the Chief of Defence Staff. And to celebrate their anniversary, a bunch of important people like Lt Gen Sandeep Thareja and Brig Mukhtar Alam (Retd) laid wreaths at ‘Prerna Sthal’ to honor the brave souls who have passed through the college.

The celebrations included debates, quizzes, and sports matches between alumni and current medical cadets, showcasing their spirit of camaraderie and competition. They also released the latest edition of their college magazine ‘Dhanvantari,’ which features contributions from students, alumni, and faculty.

AFMC alumni have a strong presence both in India and abroad, and many of them gathered at different locations to celebrate the founding day of their alma mater. It’s great to see the bond they share even after all these years.

Top military officials like Lt Gen Daljit Singh and Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth sent their congratulations and best wishes to the college, its faculty, and students. And let’s not forget about the outreach programs AFMC conducts in rural areas, spreading awareness and providing healthcare services to those in need.

Overall, it’s clear that AFMC continues to uphold its legacy of excellence and service, producing top-notch medical professionals who make a difference wherever they go. Here’s to many more years of success and impact from this esteemed institution!
