The political scene in Pune is heating up as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announces its candidates for three out of the eight assembly constituencies in the city. The existing MLAs Chandrakant Patil, Madhuri Misal, and Siddharth Shirole have been given the party’s ticket for the upcoming elections, causing a stir among party members and opposition alike.

However, the BJP’s decision to hold back on announcing candidates for Khadakwasla and Pune Cantonment has sparked speculation and discussions on potential reconsiderations in these areas. With the BJP currently holding five out of the eight constituencies in Pune, including Kothrud, Parvati, Shivajinagar, Pune Cantonment, and Khadakwasla, the party’s choices for the remaining seats are eagerly anticipated.

In response, opposition parties are gearing up for the challenge, with the Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) weighing their options for candidates in these crucial constituencies. In Kothrud, the Shiv Sena faction is rumored to be considering Chandrakant Mokate and Prithviraj Sutar as potential candidates, while all eyes are on former BJP corporator Amol Balwadkar amid whispers of dissent within the party.

In Shivajinagar, the Congress is reportedly mulling over Datta Bahirat, Sunny Nimhan, and Manish Anand as contenders, while in Parvati, the NCP’s Ashwini Kadam and former Congress corporator Aba Bagul are emerging as likely candidates. As the election season approaches, all eyes are on Pune as the political drama unfolds.
