With the upcoming civic elections in Maharashtra on the horizon, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up for a solo run in various civic bodies across the state. The party’s state president, Chandrashekhar Bawankule, has been visiting different districts to assess the party’s strength and urge party workers to expand their influence.

While the Mahayuti alliance is expected to remain intact for the civic polls, there is a growing sentiment within the BJP to contest the elections independently. The party’s strong performance in the state assembly elections has boosted morale, leading to increased pressure from within to go solo in many civic bodies.

Other political parties, such as the NCP and Shiv Sena, are also preparing for the elections. NCP leader Ajit Pawar and Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde are engaging in similar exercises to assess their party’s position and strategize for the upcoming polls.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had previously predicted that elections for all civic bodies in the state would likely occur in May. He had advised BJP workers to start preparing for the elections and instructed party members to avoid making negative comments about Mahayuti allies.

As parties across the state gear up for the civic elections, all eyes are on the Supreme Court ruling on the OBC quota, which could pave the way for the much-awaited elections to take place. Stay tuned for more updates as the political landscape in Maharashtra continues to evolve.
