In a surprising turn of events, Bhimrao Tapkir from the BJP has emerged victorious once again in the Khadakwasla constituency. This marks his fourth consecutive win, solidifying his popularity among the voters. Despite facing tough competition from NCP-SP candidate Sachin Dodke and MNS candidate Mayuresh Wanjale, Tapkir managed to secure a comfortable lead of over 50,000 votes.
Many had predicted a win for Dodke, especially after the constituency failed to support Sunetra Pawar in the last Lok Sabha elections. However, Tapkir’s strong presence and track record proved to be the deciding factor in this election. Wanjale, the son of former MLA Ramesh Wanjale, failed to capitalize on the sympathy wave and trailed behind both Tapkir and Dodke.
With a voter turnout of 56.53% and a total of 5.61 lakh voters, the low turnout ultimately worked in Tapkir’s favor. Despite Dodke receiving backing from Sharad Pawar, he was unable to garner enough support to secure a win. Tapkir’s consistent performance and strong connection with the voters have once again proven to be a winning formula in Khadakwasla.
