Hey there, folks! Big news coming out of Pune today – the Bombay High Court has granted bail to the minor involved in the tragic Porsche incident in Kalyani Nagar where two people lost their lives. The 17-year-old boy, who was under the influence of alcohol, crashed his speeding Porsche into a two-wheeler on 19th May, resulting in the deaths of two individuals.

Initially, the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) had granted bail to the minor within 15 hours of the incident, with the condition that he complete a simple disciplinary task of writing a 300-word essay. However, after facing national criticism, the JJB revoked his bail and placed him in a Remand Home for Boys.

The minor’s aunt, Pooja Jain, filed a habeas corpus petition in the Bombay High Court challenging his re-arrest. The court, led by Justice Bharti Dangre and Justice Manjusha Deshpande, ruled in favor of the petition, deeming the arrest illegal as it went against the JJB’s initial bail decision.

The court’s order invalidated previous JJB orders detaining the minor, and he was directed to be released into his aunt’s custody. With his parents and grandparents also arrested following the incident, his aunt was left as the only family member to advocate for him.

Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson, Sushma Andhare, weighed in on the bail decision, emphasizing the importance of scrutinizing documents and evidence presented to the court to ensure justice is served. The lawyer for the minor stated that the JJB’s orders detaining the child were invalid and canceled, therefore he must be released immediately.

The ruling focused on the legal missteps in the arrest, rather than addressing the actions of the police directly. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story!
