The Swargate Shivshahi Bus Rape Case has taken a new turn as the accused’s brother, Rahul Gade, has come forward to call for a thorough investigation into the incident. In a press conference held in Pune, Rahul, along with his lawyers, expressed their willingness to accept any punishment if his brother, Dattatray Gade, is found guilty.
Rahul Gade emphasized the importance of a fair and detailed inquiry into the matter, stating that they have full faith in the justice system and the police. The family has also faced social ostracism in their village following the incident, with villagers boycotting them.
The lawyers representing Dattatray Gade revealed that they have been receiving threats and have requested police protection. They have also written to the Pune Police Commissioner about the issue. The case has sparked debates about women’s safety in public spaces and has led to questions about whether rape cases should be defended at all.
Dattatray Gade, who worked as a vegetable vendor in Gultekdi before his arrest, is currently in police custody until 12th March. As the investigation continues, the case has caused widespread outrage and raised concerns about the safety of women in the city.
