Hey there, Pune peeps! It looks like our beloved city is taking some serious steps to prevent those pesky hill fires that keep popping up. Maharashtra’s Higher Technical Education Minister, Chandrakant Patil, is on a mission to ensure the safety of our 17 hills in Pune.

In a recent proposal, Minister Patil suggested that the administration and Pune Municipal Corporation team up with us citizens to tackle this issue head-on. He even promised to allocate funds for the cause. Talk about teamwork!

After a series of fires on Mhatoba Hill in Kothrud, a high-level meeting was held to discuss hill safety. Patil led the discussion with some big names in attendance, including Deputy Forest Conservator Mahadev Mohite and Deputy Commissioner of Police Sambhaji Kadam. They even had concerned citizens present – now that’s community involvement!

During the meeting, Patil revealed that around 6,500 trees were planted on Mhatoba Hill, with a chunk of them falling victim to arson. He stressed the importance of taking strict measures to prevent such incidents and laid out a plan of action.

Patil suggested that the forest department focus on weeding out unwanted plants to allow proper tree growth. He also called for the construction of a protective wall, security guards stationed at the entrance, and designated areas for tree maintenance. And let’s not forget about the high-tech CCTV cameras – solar-powered, no less!

To beef up security, the minister proposed increasing the number of guards patrolling the area. He even promised to provide funds for essential equipment like two-wheelers and solar lamps for those late-night patrols. Safety first, folks!

Looks like Pune is gearing up to protect its natural beauty, one hill at a time. Kudos to Minister Patil and his team for taking proactive steps to keep our hills safe and sound. Let’s all do our part to ensure Pune stays fire-free!
