Well, it seems like the celebrations for Team India’s Champions Trophy win turned sour on Sunday night in Deccan when a brawl broke out on FC Road. The police had to step in as two groups clashed, leading to chaos and disruption of public order.
According to Senior Inspector Girisha Nimbalkar of Deccan Gymkhana police station, the altercation started as a minor issue but quickly escalated when one person pushed another. The seven individuals involved in the incident were from Pulachiwadi and Ghorpade Peth and did not know each other prior to the clash.
As the situation intensified, the groups got physical, causing a disturbance in the crowded area. One person sustained a head injury and had to be taken to the hospital for treatment, although they have not yet provided a medical report to the police.
Following the scuffle, some young revelers even climbed onto police vehicles near Good Luck Chowk and FC Road, prompting authorities to use mild force to disperse the crowd. Despite the chaos, traffic was eventually allowed to resume by 11:10 p.m.
The individuals involved, who work at various shops in the city, will be issued notices to cooperate with the investigation. It’s a reminder that even in moments of celebration, it’s important to maintain peace and respect for others.
