Hey Pune peeps, some exciting news coming your way! The Child Welfare Committee (CWC) No. 2 in Pune has been awarded the prestigious “Child-Friendly Award – 2024” by the Maharashtra State Commission for Protection of Child Rights. This committee, with the authority of a First-Class Judicial Magistrate, has resolved over 7,000 cases in the past three years. That’s some serious dedication to child welfare!
But that’s not all – CWC No. 2 also oversees more than 50 children’s homes, infant care centers, and all police stations under Pune Rural and the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate. They’ve been working hard to protect and rehabilitate orphaned and destitute children, prevent child marriages, eliminate child labor, address child begging, and ensure the rehabilitation of minors affected by sexual abuse. Talk about making a difference!
The committee, led by Chairperson Nandita Ambike and members Adv. Paresh Khadilkar, Sandhya Gaikwad, and Sarika Agjyan, is known for its sensitive decision-making in matters concerning child welfare. And let’s not forget about Assistant Clerk Archana Raut, who plays a crucial role in supporting the team.
District Women and Child Development Officer, Manisha Biraris, will also be recognized for her contributions to child welfare.
The award ceremony is set to take place on March 3, 2025, at the Yashwantrao Chavan Auditorium in Mumbai. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde, and the Minister for Women and Child Development will be in attendance. It’s going to be a celebration of all the hard work and dedication put in by these amazing individuals. Kudos to CWC No. 2 and everyone involved in making Pune a safer and better place for children!
