Baramati residents are fed up with the current limited train service between Baramati and Pune and are urging authorities for a faster, local-style train option. The increasing urbanization in Baramati has led to higher traffic congestion and longer commute times, prompting locals to demand a train service that could potentially cut travel time from over three hours to just two hours.
In addition to the need for a faster commute, the recent surge in bus fares for the Baramati-Pune route has further fueled the demand for a local train service. With bus fares now costing between ₹238 and ₹264 for a round trip, residents are looking for a more cost-effective alternative. A monthly train pass for the same route is only ₹440, making the train a highly affordable option with a daily commute cost as low as ₹15.
Given the rising costs of bus travel and the convenience and affordability of a local train option, Baramati residents are pushing for the introduction of a local train service between Baramati and Pune. The potential extension of the service to Lonavala could also further enhance its popularity among commuters.
