Hey there, folks in Pune! If you’ve been to the market recently, you might have noticed a significant increase in the prices of leafy vegetables. Yep, you read that right – a bunch of coriander is now going for a whopping Rs. 50 to 60 in the retail market. Crazy, right?

According to traders at the market yard, the supply of leafy vegetables has taken a hit, leading to the surge in prices. On Sunday alone, the market received 80,000 pairs of coriander and 30,000 pairs of fenugreek from Nashik and Latur areas. And guess what? Prices of all types of leafy vegetables, including coriander, fenugreek, and onion, have shot up by 30 to 40 percent.

But wait, there’s more. The quality of leafy vegetables hitting the market isn’t exactly top-notch right now. Due to a lack of water, cultivation has been affected, resulting in some less-than-perfect veggies making their way to the shelves.

Rajendra Suryavanshi, a leafy vegetable trader at Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Market Yard, predicts that it will take at least a month for the cultivation of leafy vegetables to improve after the monsoon hits. So, brace yourselves – it looks like we’ll be shelling out some extra cash for our greens for a while.

In the wholesale market, prices are soaring too. Leafy green vegetables are going for Rs. 700, radish is priced between Rs. 800 to 1500, amaranth is Rs. 400 to 700, chuka is Rs. 800 to 1200, chawlai is Rs. 500 to 800, and spinach ranges from Rs. 1000 to 2000, according to traders.

So, stock up on your leafy greens now, folks! It looks like we’re in for a pricey month ahead.
