Hey there, Pune peeps! CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory (CSIR-NCL) in Pune kicked off the ‘One Week One Theme (OWOT)’ event focused on Energy and Energy Devices (EED) on 24th June 2024. The event brought together various sister CSIR laboratories for a week-long deep dive into all things energy-related.
Dr. Ashish Lele, the Director of CSIR-NCL, set the stage with a warm welcome and a quick rundown of CSIR’s work in the Energy and Energy Devices theme. He highlighted key areas such as Hydrogen technologies, Next Gen batteries, Bio-fuels, Solar harvesting and storage, and coal-based fuels.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Surya Moganty from L&T Energy, took the stage and delivered a keynote address titled “Energy Transition: From Materials Perspective.” Dr. Moganty delved into the world of energy minerals and materials, stressing the importance of specific minerals and the opportunities they present. He also discussed the safety of lithium-ion batteries from an electrolyte perspective, emphasizing the need for innovation and optimization for safety and performance.
The event featured two major technical sessions with experts sharing their insights on various cutting-edge technologies. Topics ranged from Solid Oxide Electrolysers and Fuel Cells to Next Gen Batteries, Alternate Biofuels, and Agrophoto Voltaics (PV) & Building Integrated PVs.
The second technical session continued the trend with presentations on Bio Hydrogen, Next Gen Batteries, Alternate Biofuels, and Next Gen Solar Devices. The speakers provided a comprehensive overview of these topics, discussing their roles in shaping the future energy landscape.
The program wrapped up with an interactive session with the local press and media, allowing for further discussion and dissemination of the valuable insights shared during the sessions.
