Daund, 25th October 2024: Maitreyee Shrikrishna Shitole, a hero in the eyes of many after saving 141 air passengers, has been receiving global praise. The young woman, who was on a two-day break at home, was warmly welcomed by her fellow locals. The incident occurred when Maitreyee’s plane took off from Tiruchirappalli International Airport in Tamil Nadu. At an altitude of 36,000 feet, she quickly realized that the hydraulic system of the plane had failed, leading to the need for an emergency landing.
Fearing for the safety of the passengers during the landing, airport authorities swiftly dispatched ambulances, fire brigades, police, and doctors to the scene. The plane had to circle in the air for two and a half hours to use up its fuel before making a safe landing.
The entire world was on edge as experts and stakeholders closely monitored the situation. Despite the grim outlook, Maitreyee remained composed and made a brave decision that ultimately saved the lives of all those on board. Her actions have garnered praise and admiration from all corners.
Yesterday, the villagers of Kusegaon in Daund Taluka came together to honor and celebrate Maitreyee for her incredible bravery.
In response to the overwhelming support, Maitreyee humbly stated, “I believe it is the blessings of my parents and the entire community that have given me the strength to act. I am truly touched by the love and support of the villagers.”
The village panchayat, along with various community members, seniors, and local leaders, gathered to show their appreciation for Maitreyee’s heroic actions. She was also felicitated by Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol and Daund MLA Rahul Kul during the village ceremony.
