Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, made a visit to the Khadakwasla constituency to show his support for Mahayuti’s sitting MLA Bhimrao Tapkir from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Elections. The event saw the presence of key leaders such as Rajesh Pandey, Pradeep Rawat, Ramesh Konde, and others from Mahayuti.
Fadnavis discussed the state government’s efforts to enhance infrastructure in Pune, including plans to uplift slums and provide credit notes for areas newly incorporated in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). He mentioned that villages joining the PMC would initially be charged property taxes at Gram Panchayat rates for five years before transitioning to municipal taxes based on the developed infrastructure.
The Deputy Chief Minister praised the significant progress in Pune since the Modi-led government assumed power in 2014. He highlighted the rapid construction of Pune Metro, the upcoming multi-modal transport hub at Swargate, and the revamp of Chandni Chowk to alleviate traffic congestion. Fadnavis also talked about plans for alternative roads and a new ring road for Pune, scheduled for completion within three years. He also addressed environmental concerns, focusing on preventing river pollution and enhancing the city’s river areas.
Fadnavis took a dig at NCP leaders Sharad Pawar and Supriya Sule, accusing them of misinforming the public about Gujarat’s increasing investments. He criticized them for behaving like “ambassadors of Gujarat” and claimed that Maharashtra’s foreign investment had decreased during their tenure. According to Fadnavis, 52% of foreign investment is now flowing into Maharashtra under the current government, surpassing Gujarat.
MLA Bhimrao Tapkir, running for the fourth time in Khadakwasla, expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from the constituency. He outlined his development initiatives in both rural and urban areas and urged the state government to widen roads to ease traffic congestion and reduce taxes in the 32 newly included villages in Pune. He also called for a comprehensive development plan to streamline house groupings and simplify tax processes.
