With the festive season in full swing, Pune has seen a surge in vehicle purchases. From Dussehra to Dhanteras, a total of 21,247 new vehicles have been sold in the city, which is 1,164 more than the same period last year.
Traditionally, Dussehra is a time when many people make big-ticket purchases like vehicles, jewelry, and other valuables. This trend continues through Diwali, with peak buying happening around Dhanteras, Lakshmi Puja, Diwali Padwa, and Bhai Dooj.
This year, Pune residents have been particularly interested in buying two-wheelers, cars, rickshaws, buses, and taxis. However, there has been a noticeable decline in the sale of electric vehicles. In 2023, 1,702 EVs were purchased during the festive season, but this year, only 658 have been sold.
Overall, the increase in vehicle sales is a positive sign for the economy, indicating that consumers are feeling confident and willing to make significant purchases. The dip in EV sales, however, is something that industry experts will be keeping an eye on in the coming months.
