Chakan, a key industrial area in Maharashtra, is facing a major crisis according to a senior Congress leader. Jairam Ramesh has revealed that despite being an automobile hub, Chakan is lacking in basic infrastructural facilities. This has led to over 50 companies relocating to other states like Gujarat, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh.
The industrial association in Chakan has also confirmed this trend, citing issues like traffic congestion and a lack of amenities. Despite high-level meetings being held to address these issues, no concrete steps have been taken to improve the situation. The Federation of Chakan Industries has been vocal about the need for immediate action.
In a social media post, Jairam Ramesh highlighted the impact of these problems on the productivity of companies in Chakan. He mentioned the persistent pothole problem on roads, leading to delays in transportation of raw materials and finished goods. This has resulted in companies losing out on business opportunities and ultimately, jobs being lost due to the government’s inaction.
Dilip Batwal, Secretary of the Federation of Chakan Industries, echoed these concerns, stating that the worsening infrastructure and traffic congestion are stifling industries in the area. Employees are losing valuable time due to traffic issues, impacting production and overall efficiency.
As the situation in Chakan continues to deteriorate, it is imperative for the government to take immediate action to retain investment in Maharashtra and prevent further migration of companies to other states. The future of the industrial sector in Chakan hangs in the balance, and urgent steps need to be taken to address these pressing issues.
