Well, well, well, looks like the battle for the Shirur Lok Sabha seat was a real nail-biter! The showdown between the NCP factions led by Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar had everyone on the edge of their seats. And in the end, it was Dr. Amol Kolhe who emerged victorious, beating out Shivajirao Adhalrao Patil by a whopping 1,15,580 votes.

This wasn’t the first time these two candidates faced off – Dr. Kolhe had already secured Shirur in the 2019 Lok Sabha election against Adhalrao Patil. But this time around, the stakes were even higher with the NCP split in 2023. The campaigns were fiery, with accusations flying left and right on social media and at public rallies.

The NCP led by Ajit Pawar didn’t have the best day at the polls, losing three out of four seats in Maharashtra. Ajit Pawar himself only managed to secure the Raigad Lok Sabha seat, with his candidate Sunil Tatkare coming out on top. But it was a different story for Ajit Pawar’s wife, who lost in Baramati to none other than his own sister, Supriya Sule. Ouch.

In the end, Dr. Kolhe has now snagged the MP seat for Shirur for the second time in a row, taking down the three-time MP Adhalrao Patil in the process. Looks like the drama in Indian politics never fails to disappoint!
