The CSIR- National Chemical Laboratory (CSIR-NCL) in Pune recently marked a significant milestone as it completed 75 years of groundbreaking research and innovation. The Platinum Jubilee celebration on February 20, 2025, was a grand affair with Chief Guest Dr. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw and Guest of Honor Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar in attendance. The event showcased the laboratory’s achievements, including the unveiling of a 3D-printed wall sculpture called “Interfaces” that symbolizes the essence of research at NCL.

During the event, Dr. Ashish Lele highlighted the laboratory’s roadmap for the next decade and the key accomplishments in 2024. Dr. Mazumdar-Shaw emphasized the need for India to lead in developing new medicines and advanced technologies, leveraging innovations like AI and Quantum Computing. She stressed the importance of investments, government support, and collaborative efforts to drive progress in healthcare and medicine.

Dr. Mashelkar praised CSIR-NCL’s contributions to science and technology, citing its role in addressing industrial disasters and driving the IPR movement in India. He expressed confidence in the institute’s potential to drive global innovations. The release of special publications and the inauguration of the Archives and Science Museum showcased NCL’s rich legacy and future aspirations.

The Platinum Jubilee celebrations not only commemorated past achievements but also set the stage for continued excellence in scientific discovery and societal impact.
