Hey there, Pune! In some sad news from the Wagholi area, the community is still reeling from a tragic incident that took place two days ago. A dumper driver, allegedly intoxicated, ran over nine individuals, resulting in the deaths of three and injuries to six others. The entire neighborhood is in mourning, trying to come to terms with the shocking loss.
In a swift move, the police managed to arrest the dumper driver within just 24 hours of the incident. But the community wasn’t satisfied with just one arrest – they were demanding justice for the victims. And yesterday, their voices were heard as the dumper owner, Anil Kate, was also arrested by the authorities.
It turns out that Anil Kate was well aware of the dumper driver’s alcohol addiction but still allowed him to operate the vehicle. Despite knowing the risks involved, Kate hired Gajanan Shankar Totre as a driver and even knew that Totre was on duty on the night of the accident. This negligence in ensuring the safety of employees led to Kate’s arrest.
According to police reports, before the tragic accident at Kesnand Phata, the dumper driver had caused damage to a customer service center in Wagholi. The driver had a heated argument with a tea vendor before speeding off and ultimately crushing the laborers who were sleeping on the pavement.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of responsible hiring practices and ensuring the safety of employees. Let’s hope that justice is served for the victims and their families in this heartbreaking situation. Stay safe, Pune.
