With the establishment of Emergency Medical Rooms (EMRs) at Ahmednagar and Miraj stations, Indian Railways is taking a significant step towards enhancing passenger safety and welfare. These medical rooms are not only crucial during critical emergencies but also contribute to the financial sustainability of the railway system.
The license for the EMR at Ahmednagar has been awarded to M/s Moraya Multi Speciality Hospital, while the one at Miraj has been awarded to M/s Sevasadan Lifeline Pvt Ltd. Both contracts are for a period of 5 years, with a license fee of ₹91,000/- per annum for Ahmednagar and ₹99,999/- per annum for Miraj. This means that Indian Railways has the potential to earn ₹1,90,999/- per annum from these facilities, supporting revenue generation while ensuring passenger welfare.
These EMRs operate 24×7 to provide medical assistance to passengers, with a dedicated pharmacy facility at both stations. The licensees will recruit professional medical staff to operate the EMRs efficiently and provide all necessary medical equipment for comprehensive care. These facilities will be accessible to both ticket-holding and non-ticket-holding passengers, ensuring prompt medical assistance during emergencies.
The establishment of EMRs at Ahmednagar and Miraj stations exemplifies Pune Division, Central Railway’s commitment to passenger safety and welfare. By providing immediate medical assistance during emergencies, these facilities aim to enhance passenger comfort and security, making train travel a safer and more convenient experience for all.
