Hey Pune peeps, get ready for some exciting updates on the city’s public transportation system! Maharashtra State cabinet minister Chandrakant Patil recently announced plans to bring in 1,000 new buses to improve last-mile connectivity for Pune’s Metro rail. This collaboration between PMPML and Maha Metro aims to tackle the increasing demand for public transportation in the city.

During a media briefing after checking out the underground Metro stations, Patil spilled the beans on the upcoming Metro connectivity to Hinjawadi expected to be up and running by March 2025. By 2030, the entire city will be seamlessly connected by the Metro network.

But wait, there’s more! Patil also revealed plans for a dedicated bus service to Pune Airport, making it super easy for commuters to transfer between Metro stations and the airport. And to make life even easier for Metro riders, PMPML will be introducing bus services specifically for pick-up and drop-off points at Metro stations.

And guess what? Affordable ticketing options are on the horizon to make Metro services more accessible to everyone. Plus, a bunch of the new buses will be exclusively designated for last-mile connectivity, ensuring a smooth ride for all passengers.

Stay tuned for updates on a meeting with the Chief Minister’s Office and deputy chief ministers to tackle important issues in Pune. One hot topic on the agenda is the potential division of the Pune Municipal Corporation to boost efficiency in city administration.

While Patil acknowledged the benefits of a smaller municipal corporation, he recognized the challenges of forming a new civic body before the upcoming municipal elections. Exciting times ahead for Pune’s transportation scene!
