Shivajinagar is set to see some major improvements in commuter convenience with the construction of a foot overbridge connecting the Civil Court Metro Station to the upcoming Shivajinagar Metro Station. This move is part of the ongoing work on the Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar Metro corridor, which is progressing rapidly.
The new Shivajinagar Metro Station will be the terminal stop for the Hinjewadi Metro Line and is located near Kamgar Putala, just 200 meters away from the existing Civil Court Metro Station. Discussions between the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro) and the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) have already begun on the design and placement of the foot overbridge.
According to a senior Maha Metro official, the FOB will make transfers between the two Metro lines seamless, greatly enhancing connectivity for commuters. Plans are in place to have the FOB ready for public use when the new Metro route becomes operational.
Officials have also assured that space constraints will not be a problem for the construction of the overbridge, as there is ample space at the Civil Court Metro Station to accommodate the increased foot traffic. Additionally, Maha Metro is working on enhancing PMPML bus connectivity to the station by allocating dedicated space for pick-up and drop-off bus stops.
The aim is to introduce more frequent bus routes connecting key areas to the Civil Court Metro Station, improving last-mile connectivity for Metro passengers. With these developments in place, commuters in Shivajinagar can look forward to a more seamless and convenient travel experience in the near future.
