Residents of Bopkhel in Pune can breathe a sigh of relief as a new bridge connecting the area is set to open by the end of August 2024. After facing years of inconvenience due to the closure of the Dapodi-Bopkhel road, residents will finally have a more direct route for their daily commute.

The closure of the road in 2015 forced commuters to take a longer detour, adding to their travel time and fuel costs. Recognizing the need for a solution, a tender was initiated in 2019 to construct a bridge at the site. The project, awarded to M/s T&T Infra Ltd., is now 98% complete despite some delays.

The new bridge, spanning 1856 meters in length and 8.40 meters in width, will include approach roads on both sides. Once open, it will reduce the travel distance from Bopkhel to Dapodi to just 2.9 kilometers, making life easier for residents, students, and workers in the area.

Pramod Ombhase, Deputy City Engineer, emphasized the positive impact the new bridge will have on the community. Efforts are being made to ensure a smooth transition for traffic once the bridge is operational.

Overall, the new bridge promises to improve the daily lives of Bopkhel residents and contribute to a more efficient and sustainable commute for all.
