The Regional Transport Office in Pune has recently introduced a new system to make it easier for vehicle owners to register their vehicles and select their preferred registration numbers. Here are some key features of the new system:

1. Online Process: Vehicle owners can now register, choose their preferred number, and pay the necessary fees online through the SBI e-pay gateway.

2. Verification: Users will need to verify their email ID or mobile number through OTP in order to create an account.

3. Receipt Submission: Once the booking is done, an e-receipt must be submitted to the dealer for further processing.

For premium numbers that are in high demand, the traditional offline auction system will still be in place. Here’s how it will work:

– Applicants must submit advance applications for their preferred numbers.
– If multiple applications are received, an auction will be held at the RTO.
– The number will go to the highest bidder, who will need to deposit the additional bid amount at the office.

After the auction process is completed, any remaining numbers will be available for online reservation through the new system. This new initiative is aimed at simplifying the registration process, reducing the need for physical visits to the RTO, and ensuring transparency.

Citizens are encouraged to take advantage of this new system for seamless vehicle registration. For more information, you can contact Swapnil Bhosale, Deputy Regional Transport Officer in Pune.
