Pune has been hit with a wave of traffic accidents, causing concern among residents and officials alike. The most recent incident at Chandani Chowk left four people injured, adding to the growing list of fatalities on the city’s roads.

In response to this alarming trend, MP Medha Kulkarni has urged Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to take swift action to improve traffic safety in Pune. Kulkarni’s key recommendations include holding a joint coordination meeting between the PMC and the Police Department to address the ongoing traffic issues.

She also emphasized the need for infrastructure improvements, such as fixing design flaws at major junctions and installing CCTV cameras for better traffic monitoring. Clearing road encroachments and enforcing traffic rules, including restrictions on heavy vehicles in certain areas, were also highlighted as crucial steps to improve traffic flow and safety.

In an interview with Punekar News, Kulkarni stressed the importance of strong coordination between the PMC and the police to make Pune a safer city for all. The recent spike in accidents has united political parties and public servants in their call for immediate and effective solutions to prevent further tragedies on Pune’s roads.
