Former Vadgaonsheri MLA and ex-BJP Pune City President Jagdish Mulik has made a surprising turn in the upcoming elections by joining the campaign trail for Mahayuti’s candidate Sunil Tingre from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). This move comes after Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis reportedly assured Mulik a Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC) position, leading to BJP members now actively supporting Tingre in the Vadgaonsheri constituency.
The Vadgaonsheri constituency has been a point of contention within the Mahayuti alliance, as it was initially assigned to the NCP led by Ajit Pawar. With Tingre being the incumbent MLA, Mulik initially resisted this decision and pushed for the seat to be given to the BJP. However, after a meeting with MLC Pankaja Munde and local BJP leaders issuing a warning, the situation took a different turn.
During Diwali, Fadnavis visited Pune and personally met with Mulik, where he assured him of a seat in the Maharashtra Legislative Council, leading to Mulik officially endorsing Tingre for the upcoming elections. With this development, Vadgaonsheri is set to have two representatives in the state legislature, promising new opportunities for development in the constituency.
