Residents of Undri in Pune are growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of infrastructure development in their area. The Mohammadwadi-Undri Residents’ Welfare Development Foundation (MURWDF) recently presented their “Citizens’ Manifesto” to address urgent needs such as reliable water supply, roads, public amenities, and consistent power access.
Suniel Iyer, a representative of MURWDF, expressed the sentiment of many residents who feel neglected by the local government. He emphasized the need for candidates in the upcoming election to fulfill their promises and prioritize infrastructure projects that will improve residents’ quality of life.
Animesh Prasad from Godrej Horizon stressed the importance of transparency and accountability in public works, advocating for residents to be informed and involved in development projects. Vaidehi Suryavanshi from Nyati Esteban highlighted the lack of essential services such as roads, water supply, drainage, security, and power in the area, urging for immediate action from elected representatives.
Deepti Mishra from Palazzo society echoed the need for public amenities and improved infrastructure, pointing out the area’s reliance on tankers for water supply and the lack of walkways and public transport.
In response to these concerns, Zende, who is campaigning for election, acknowledged the challenges faced by merged villages in Pune due to rapid urbanization and population growth. He promised to prioritize addressing these infrastructure issues if elected, reassuring residents that their needs would be taken seriously.
