Scam alert! Residents in Pune are falling prey to a series of scams that have cost them thousands of rupees. From fake calls about overdue bills to phishing messages, these scammers are using various tactics to deceive unsuspecting individuals.

In one case, a woman from Lohgaon lost ₹6.5 lakh to scammers who claimed she had outstanding bills or needed to update her KYC information. Similarly, a Kothrud resident was tricked into paying ₹7.5 lakh for a fake MNGL gas bill, while another Sinhagad road resident was conned into paying ₹11 lakh for a false electricity bill warning. A youth from Hadapsar also fell victim to a scam, losing ₹13 lakh after being told his money was connected to drug trafficking and money laundering.

Unfortunately, the scams don’t stop there. A victim from Kharadi received a fake message from a bank and ended up losing ₹50 lakh to scammers who stole from his account through a phishing link.

Authorities are warning the public to be vigilant and double-check any calls or messages that seem suspicious. Don’t let yourself become the next victim of these ruthless scammers! Stay informed and stay safe.
