Hey there, folks in Maharashtra are in for a chilly ride as temperatures continue to drop across the state! Dhule hit a frigid 4°C on Tuesday, making it the coldest spot in the area. Jalgaon wasn’t far behind at 8°C, with Nashik and Pune also feeling the chill at 9.4°C and 12.3°C, respectively. And get this – Pune’s temperature has plummeted by a whopping 10°C in just six days, going from a balmy 22.5°C to a much frostier 12.3°C on December 4th.

Pune, usually known for its mild winters, is facing quite the temperature shock this month. The rapid drop in temps has caught residents off guard, but weather experts say it’s all thanks to those clear skies and cold northwesterly winds blowing through the region.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Pune is predicting that this cold snap will stick around for a bit, but they don’t expect temperatures to fall much lower. Dr. K. S. Hosalikar from IMD-Pune says that while the minimum temps may hover below 13°C in places like Pune and Nashik, they should start creeping back up in the next few days.

The sudden cold wave has left grape farmers in Niphad, Nashik district feeling the freeze, with temps dropping to 8.9°C on Tuesday. To protect their precious crops, farmers are using tactics like drip irrigation and lighting bonfires to keep things warm.

As Maharashtra gears up for a frosty week ahead, residents are bundling up and farmers are getting creative to shield their crops from the cold. So grab those extra layers and maybe a hot beverage – it looks like winter is finally here!
